Born in the South Bronx, New York, Bushmiller was the son of immigrant parents, Ernest George Bushmiller and Elizabeth Hall. His father was an artist, vaudevillian and bartender. Bushmiller quit school at 14 to work as a copy boy at the New York World newspaper, while attending evening art classes at the National Academy of Design. He ran errands for the staff cartoonists and was given occasional illustration assignments, including a Sunday feature by Harry Houdini.

www.afnews.info segnala: Terry Austin (born 23 August 1952, USA) is an artist who is best known for inking comics stories for DC and Marvel. He drew attention for his work on a Batman storyline in “Detective Comics” in 1977-78, inking over Marshall Rogers on a story by Steve Englehart (later collected as “Batman: Strange Apparitions”).
When John Byrne became the penciler on Marvel’s “Uncanny X-Men” in 1977, Austin joined him as inker. With writer Chris Claremont, they pushed the series to artistic and popularity heights. In 1980, they produced the famous ‘Dark Phoenix Saga’.
Austin was the regular inker on “Superman Adventures” throughout its 1996-2002 run. More recently, he has been the regular inker on “Sonic the Hedgehog” from Archie Comics
